These terms are a legal agreement between you and Mintro. We've written them in plain English because nobody should need a law degree to understand the rules.

By downloading, installing, or using Mintro, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

What Mintro is

Mintro is a financial education app for iOS. It teaches personal finance through interactive lessons, daily challenges, practice reviews, streaks, and achievements. Think of it as a learning tool — like a textbook you can tap through in five minutes a day.

Mintro is built and operated in the United Kingdom.

What Mintro is NOT — please read this carefully

Mintro is not financial advice. Nothing in this app should be treated as financial advice, personal recommendation, or guidance on specific financial decisions.

This is important, so let's be completely clear:

  • Mintro provides financial education only. We teach general concepts — how ISAs work, what compound interest means, how to think about budgeting. We do not tell you what to do with your money.
  • We are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as a financial adviser, and we do not provide regulated financial advice.
  • We do not know your personal financial situation — your income, debts, goals, tax position, or circumstances. Our content is general and may not be right for you.
  • Before making any financial decision, consider seeking advice from a qualified, FCA-regulated financial adviser.
  • We do not guarantee outcomes. Financial education can help you make more informed decisions, but we cannot promise particular financial results.
  • Information may become outdated. UK financial rules, tax thresholds, and allowances change. Always check current figures before acting.

If you're unsure whether something in the app applies to your situation, please speak to a qualified professional.

Your account

You can use Mintro without creating an account. All your progress will be stored locally on your device.

If you create an account (via Apple Sign In or email), you're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. If you think someone has accessed your account without permission, let us know at hello@mintroapp.com.

You must be at least 16 years old to use Mintro. You agree to provide accurate information and not to impersonate anyone else.

Free and paid access

Free access

  • 1 lesson per day
  • Access to 3 free modules (money basics, budgeting, and emergency fund)

Subscription (Mintro Pro)

  • Monthly: £7.99/month
  • Annual: £49.99/year (£4.17/month effective)
  • All subscriptions include a 7-day free trial for new subscribers

Subscribing unlocks unlimited daily lessons, all modules, and additional features.

How payment works

All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. This means:

  • Your subscription is managed through your Apple ID account.
  • Payment is charged at confirmation of purchase (or at the end of your free trial).
  • Your subscription automatically renews unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Manage or cancel any time in Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • Refund requests go through Apple.

We may change pricing in the future. Any change applies to your next billing period, and you'll be notified in advance.

How you can use Mintro

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Mintro on your iOS devices for personal, non-commercial use.

You agree not to:

  • Copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the app
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code
  • Use the app for any commercial purpose
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers to access the app
  • Interfere with the app's operation, servers, or security
  • Use the app in any way that violates applicable law

Our content and intellectual property

All content in Mintro — lessons, text, graphics, the Minty mascot, animations, designs, and overall look and feel — is owned by Mintro or used under licence. Protected by copyright, trademark, and other IP laws.

Your content

You keep ownership of anything you create or enter (display name, spending tracker entries, goal selections). By using the app with an account, you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display your content back to you — solely to provide the service.

Availability and changes

We want Mintro to be reliable, but can't promise 100% uptime. We reserve the right to update, modify, or discontinue features, release new versions, and change lesson content as part of ongoing development.

We'll try to give reasonable notice of significant changes.

Account suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, use the app harmfully, we're required to by law, or we discontinue the service.

You can delete your account at any time (Profile > Settings > Delete Account). This permanently removes all your data from our servers.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Mintro is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind.
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
  • Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you've paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or £50, whichever is greater.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under English law.

To repeat: Mintro is a learning tool, not financial advice. Any financial decisions you make are your own responsibility.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Mintro harmless from claims arising from your breach of these terms or misuse of the app.

Third-party services

Mintro uses:

  • Apple (App Store) — app distribution and payments
  • Supabase — authentication and cloud data sync
  • TelemetryDeck — anonymous, privacy-first analytics

Your use of these services is subject to their own terms. We've chosen providers whose values align with ours.

Links and external content

Mintro may reference external websites for further reading. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For significant changes, we'll notify you in the app or by email. Continued use after changes means you agree to the updated terms.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you have a dispute, contact us at hello@mintroapp.com — we'd like to try to resolve it informally first. If we can't, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction (except that nothing affects your statutory consumer rights).

Severability

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continue to apply.

Entire agreement

These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Mintro.
